During 2021 a primary school contacted me and asked Jilk to make music with found sounds the students had collected. In all they sent around 50 sounds, way more than we were expecting. So we made an mini album of 2 minute vignettes where each track used around 5 sounds each.

After the project was finished the album tracks sat in a playlist in my iTunes folder and I found myself regularly returning to them. What resonated most was a sense of creation for the sake of fun, and how little angst or contrivance had gone into the musical decisions. I felt like the project had returned me to the first reasons I made music - the fun of playing with sound - and that the tracks spoke to my own earliest experiments with electronics and audio.

Found Little Lost is a fuller realisation of those 2 minutes experiments. I tried to carry forward the inhibited sense of creation and infuse the project with the unburdened, playful inspiration the 50 found sounds had initially given the project. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this album feels most like the earliest Jilk releases (lots of which are now lost) and in a really strange way, feels like our debut album.
